Halifax Food and Drink Festival

Halifax Food and Drink Festival promises to be a fun packed weekend not to be missed and takes place in the Piece Hall on 13 and 14 June. The focal point of the event will be the cookery theatre hosted by Yorkshire Life Food and Wine Consultant Annie Stirk. Demonstrations by celebrity chef, Kevin Woodford and chefs from some of the best restaurants in Halifax and also a range of local and regional producers exhibiting, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

Halifax Charity Gala

Halifax Charity Gala will be held on 13th June at Manor Heath Park. This is its 53rd year so come along and support local charities and good causes. The procession starts from Eureka at 12.30 pm continuing through Halifax and arriving at Manor Heath Park at 1.30 pm. A great family day out.

The July Project Calderdale

The July Project is Calderdale’s biggest festival for children and young people and runs for two week from 1 to 12 July. It will be held in various locations round Calderdale and contains something for everyone. The July Project is supported by the Halifax in partnership with Square Chapel Centre for the Arts, Eureka and Calderdale Council.

Peoples Park Festival Halifax

Peoples Park Festival is a multi-cultural festival of music and the arts. This is a fun filled family event with live musical acts, a variety of stalls, food and drink, children entertainers – and much more. Opening 12 noon on 12 July at Peoples Park Halifax

Halifax Agricultural Show

Halifax Agricultural Show now in its 63rd year will be at Saville Park Halifax. There will be horticulture and handicraft marquees, bee keeping, funfair, trade stands and a band to entertain through the afternoon as well as a fantastic new farmers market where the best locally produced goods will be on sale and of course all the regular events e.g. vintage tractors, showjumping and the animals!!!

The Piece Hall Halifax

The Piece Hall is located in the centre of Halifax. With over 300 rooms arranged around the huge centre open square. It is one of the most significant and complete Georgian buildings in Britain. It was opened in 1779 as a market place for “pieces” of woollen and worsted cloth made by the handloom weavers in the area of Halifax. There is a permanent exhibition in the Halifax Visitor Centre and Art Gallery.

Shibden Hall Halifax

Shibden Hall is set in the glorious parkland of Shibden Estate and attractions to suit all tastes. The newly refurbished estate boasts woodland trails, water features, formal garden and wilderness, as well as the popular miniature railway, boating lake, pitch and putt and playground. A new café by the lake is operated by Coffee Culture.

The Hall and Folk Museum provides fascinating insight into domestic life and work over the six centuries of the hall’s existence. There are also refreshments available at the hall.

Eureka Halifax

Eureka, the National Children’s Museum based in Halifax is a magical place where children play learn and grown-ups to play. It gives children ages 0-11 a fun-packed day out, while inspiring them to find out about themselves and the world around them. With imagination, hands-on workshops and events throughout the year including 18 July – 31 August Eureka will continue its celebrations of the International Year of Astronomy.

Manor Heath Park and Jungle Experience Halifax

Manor Heath Park and Jungle Experience at Halifax, Saville Park is a tropical oasis packed with fish, quails, terrapins and butterflies as well as a collection of plants from all over the world, where visitors can enjoy the all-year-round tropical atmosphere. Also in the well kept park is a children’s play area, picnic tables, mature trees and gardens.

Wainhouse Tower Halifax

Wainhouse Tower in Halifax, King Cross is one of Calderdale’s most recognisable landmarks, is once again open to the public. The structure which towers over 250ft above King Cross will be open for visits on at least eight days this year. The tower was originally commissioned as a chimney for the local dye works by John Edward Wainhouse in the late 19th Centure. It was never actually used as a working chimney and as such, has been regarded by many as one of Britians finest follies.

Halifax Ski and Snowboard Centre
